Stortford Youth Choirs is the brain child of Josie Cowley who has spent her whole life surrounded by choral music. Josie grew up in Manchester and joined Manchester Girls Choir when she was 9 years old; this amazing group opened her eyes to the joy of choral singing, and to new friends from all over her city that she would never have met otherwise. She toured all over the country and America with her youth choir and it left a lasting impression. She then joined The National Youth Choir of Great Britain, singing in the country's premier music venues, recording albums, and touring all over the world. During this time she studied with top singing teachers at JRNCM and RAM before joining adult vocal ensembles in London and Cambridge where she still sings today. Josie spent many years teaching music and singing, as well as conducting choral festivals and community choirs. After ten years of leading the Bishop's Stortford Primary Schools Choir Festival, it felt like the right time to start a truly inclusive, contemporary youth choir organisation for the local community.
